Maya feels unsure about a little garden step. Mum invites her and Eli to explore the Bible account of twelve explorers sent into Canaan. The men look carefully at the land, bring back grapes, figs and pomegranates, and report after forty days. The land is good, but its strong people and fortified towns present real difficulties. Caleb urges trust; the other explorers spread a frightening report. The people weep and want to return to Egypt. Joshua and Caleb appeal to them, and Moses asks God for forgiveness. The selected account includes the long consequence: forty years in the wilderness, with the children later entering the land. In separate modern family scenes, Maya names her feelings, asks for Mum’s hand and chooses a small, safe step. Children can also watch, decline or rest.
