After leaving Rephidim, Israel camps before Mount Sinai. God recalls His rescue and speaks to Moses about keeping His covenant. Moses brings the message to the elders, the people agree, and they prepare for the third day. Thunder, lightning, thick cloud, smoke and a loud trumpet sound mark an awesome meeting at the mountain. Moses leads the people to its foot and returns with another reminder about the boundary. This carefully guided retelling ends before the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20. In a separate modern family story, Maya wonders whether her photograph belongs in a family collage. Mum reassures her that she already has a place and that her questions are welcome. The 29-page digital edition includes 14 illustrated story scenes, seven questions, My Little Caring Plan, a prayer and two activities: A Picture of Belonging and Help Me Understand. Grown-up notes distinguish Israel’s covenant from a child’s unconditional family belonging and explain the omitted death penalties and sexual instruction in the complete chapter. They acknowledge the passage’s frightening sights and severe warnings, encourage questions and comfort, and make clear that ordinary storms are not punishment for a child’s behaviour. Activities use paper and conversation indoors, without staged fire, smoke, loud noises or climbing. The EPUB requires a reader supporting EPUB 3 fixed layout.
There is no single right answer. Follow your child’s curiosity and keep the conversation relaxed.
