About this story
Moses and the travelling families reach Rephidim, but there is no water for them to drink. They are thirsty and afraid, and their worried voices grow cross. Moses asks God for help. Taking his staff and some of Israel’s elders, he follows the instructions at the rock in Horeb, where water comes out so the people can drink. This retelling follows Exodus 17:1–7 and keeps it distinct from the later rock account in Numbers 20. In a separate modern family story, Eli tells Mum his water bottle is empty. She provides fresh drinking water before opening the Bible. Later, Eli and Maya prepare for another walk and practise asking for help. The 29-page digital edition includes 14 illustrated story pages, seven questions, My Little Caring Plan, a prayer, and two activities: My Helpful People Map and A Kind Little Reply. Grown-up notes explain the selected retelling and encourage practical care without shaming children for reporting a need. The rock event is a Bible story, not a water-finding method to copy.
