About this story

Where will the new path lead? Join Eli, Maya and Mum as they read about Joshua and the Israelites reaching the River Jordan. The people camp beside the river. Officers tell them to follow the ark when the priests carry it ahead and to leave a big space, because they have not been this way before. Joshua asks the people to make themselves ready for God’s wonders, and God promises to be with Joshua as He was with Moses. The priests carry the ark of the covenant on poles. When their feet touch the edge of the overflowing Jordan, the water coming from upstream stops far away. The water downstream flows away, and Israel crosses on dry ground. The priests remain in the middle until all the people have crossed. Their later departure and the memorial stones belong to Joshua 4 and are left for another book. The illustrations follow the original series’ painted style and show a broad dry riverbed rather than two nearby walls of water. The ark has a blue transport covering, drawing on Numbers 4:5–6. Separate fictional garden scenes give Maya space to ask about rivers. Mum explains that this special crossing is not one to copy; the family’s activity stays safely on paper. This 29-page digital edition includes fourteen distinct illustrated story scenes, Bible references, seven questions, My Little Caring Plan, a short prayer and two activities: My Paper Path and A New-Thing Picture. Both use paper and crayons with a grown-up, with looking or pointing offered as alternatives. Grown-up notes explain the miracle, the ark’s association with God’s covenant and the passage’s conquest setting, including details omitted from the child narrative. Preview the story and allow time for questions or pauses. The story does not promise that every difficulty will become easy. The PDF has searchable interior text; the matching fixed-layout EPUB 3 needs a compatible reader and does not resize text separately.
